February 15th 2015
Sharing the light with 2015’s first Super Moon, The Half Moon in Putney played host to our first Music Earth Rise event
of 2015. The Half Moon is a superb venue, with bucket loads of history behind it and was the perfect setting for a night of ‘Performance by candlelight’.
Armed with some incense we set upon the Half Moon with some fantastic musicians in tow, on a mission to present our audience with a truly real and passionate night of genuine music. Our aim for Music Earth Rise events is too bring back the depth and meaning behind music and the songwriting that goes into it, and help our audience to engage with the artists as they perform.
First on stage was Brendan Mission, founder of Music Earth Rise.
With an acoustic guitar in hand Brendan took control of the evening, and introduced the audience to what was too be an inspiring night of real music. With a strong combination of meaningful and powerful songs Brendan produced a short but sweet set which really emphasized the talent behind real music.
Eleni Skarpari was next on stage at the Half Moon; under her stage name ‘Echo wants her voice back’. Supported by a guitarist and a cellist, A natural charisma surrounds Eleni whilst she performs, and she captivates the audience with her fantastic vocal performance and melodic backing, which is why we would recommend grabbing tickets for ‘Echo wants her voice back’ as soon as you can!
Next up we had Calista Kazuko. Calista was joined on stage by her guitarist, who added a rhythmic and solid sound to Calista’s fantastic lead vocals and keyboard playing. Confidence and power are two things Calista definitely is not lacking, and alongside her vocals, makes to create an incredible performance, which is sure to wow anybody who was lucky enough to be in an audience with Calista on stage. During her performance she added strength and passion to the already buzzing atmosphere within the Half Moon’s live music room.
Tom Hingley was last on stage on the 20th January, and he is most known for his time with ‘Inspiral Carpets’ from 1989 to 2011.
After being back in the U.K for only a number of hours, and enduring a painful journey back from the U.S, Tom still managed to deliver a fantastic performance.
The experience of such a great musician and songwriter really shines through with Tom. He created an enormous sound with just his vocals and guitar playing and held the audience in his hand until the very last minute.
To conclude on such an impressive line-up of artists, our aim with this evening was to put the passion and intimacy back into live music, and there was no better venue, or artists to have on the line-up for Music Earth Rise’s first live event of 2015. This was the first of many, and we are sure to be returning to The Half Moon in Putney with even more artists in tow to showcase the originality and creativity of musicians today.
