Karen Be comes from a home where Arabic French and English danced, where elders called out in Caribbean accents; childhood dreams sung in strings of languages. She’s traveled the globe and the souvenirs she’s collected dangle from her gypsy jungle sounds like sparkling gems.

Armed with acoustic guitars, cellos, harmonicas, banjoleles, loop pedals, stomp boxes and pretty much anything else they can get their hands on.

With a treasure chest of instruments, effects pedals & loop stations, Karen Be grows living gardens of sultry harmonies, beats, guitar skanks, bass grooves and piano riffs. The harvest is sweet. She left her Maui jungle home studio to share her sounds with the world.

Vast and varied, some of her influences are Mozart, Chopin, J Dilla, David Lynch, Bjork, Nina Simone, Fairuz, Skip James, Paul Gauguin, Chet Baker, Velvet Underground, Prince, CocoRosie, Charles Baudelaire, Whispering Smith, old Egyptian movies, Avi Kiriaty & Flying Lotus amongst others.

Karen Be translates light and sounds into songs to bring delight and to show the Beauty she witnesses every day. testify!

Karen Be sounds like sunshine!
