Having spent months writing, Steve Forrest, drummer of Placebo, set about pulling together various friends from London to form a new band, and Planes was born. The band released their debut EP last summer to critical acclaim, and are back with a new record and a tour in Spring 2013.
Most young songwriters debut their new material in front of a handful of friends; Planes’ songs enjoyed a slightly larger nascence being performed in front of 60 000 screaming fans, with frontman Steve Forrest opening for Placebo; one of the world’s biggest alternative acts.
The band’s return to the live circuit has been the subject of a feverish response from their dedicated and international fan-base – leading to the band trending on twitter in 6 countries before the date was even announced! Planes are now recording their debut album with some high profile producers, including Tristan Ivemy (Frank Turner, The Heartbreaks) and perform across the UK in March 2013
What should you expect from the Planes’ live show?
As the NME recently said of the band, they move effortlessly from anthemic and euphoric rock sensibilities, to soft bluesy ballads.
Of the news of Planes’ live return, Steve Forrest commented
“It’s really great to be taking the stage with Planes again after almost a years break. It’s going to be fantastic, and I’m twitching with anticipation.”
